  • Complex welding parameters (heat input, preheating, pass sequence) are generally not required

3. Materials, Consumables, and Equipment Control

  • Basic inspection of steels, sheets, profiles, and filler materials
  • Minimal certification requirements for consumables
  • Ensuring welding machines are in safe operating condition with periodic checks

4. Pre-Welding, In-Process, and Post-Welding Controls

  • Checking joint preparation, surface cleanliness, and fit-up
  • Visual inspection after welding to verify weld quality
  • Simple NDT methods if needed (e.g., dye penetrant test)
  • Advanced NDT (UT, RT) is generally not required for this level

5. Documentation and Traceability

  • Incoming material inspection records
  • Simple work orders and welding control forms
  • Equipment maintenance records
  • Welder lists and basic competency documentation
  • Documentation requirements are significantly lighter than 3834-2 and 3834-3
